[बदल]The aim of this project is to develop a script converter for the Konkani Wikipedia
Background
[बदल]Konkani is written in five scripts: Devanagari, Roman, Kannada, Malayalam and Perso-Arabic. Out of these, the Konkani Wikipedia has the largest number of pages in Devanagari, followed by a comparable number in Roman, and a few in Kannada. Since many users are familiar with only one script, it is desirable to have a script converter which would enable pages written in any one script to be read in any other.

Notes
[बदल]- Capitalise only the first alphabet of every sentence in Roman.
- If ज् or झ् consonant is followed by something that becomes (e,i,ea,ei) then use j or jh, otherwise, use z or zh

Schwa notation in the Roman script
[बदल]It has been proposed that the character ø could be used in Konkani in the Roman script to denote the schwa o sound, as against the regular vowel o sound.[1]
When this convention is being followed:
- While converting from the Roman script, ø must be replaced by अ at the start of a word, and no character in the middle or end of a word.
- While converting into the Roman script, when schwa is retained, ø must be used instead of o.
