The following existing User_talk pages do not correspond to any registered user (note: not just no existing user page, but no registered user account). Most are clearly the result of user renames, as indicated in the "bullet" items:

  1. वापरपी चर्चा:Archi38
  2. वापरपी चर्चा:Cyndaquil (Pokéfan95) and वापरपी चर्चा:Cyndaquil (Pokéfan95)/Archive 1
  3. वापरपी चर्चा:Huuski and वापरपी चर्चा:Huuski/Archive 1
  4. वापरपी चर्चा:Osgwel
  5. वापरपी चर्चा:P.sutermeister and वापरपी चर्चा:P.sutermeister/Archive 1
  6. वापरपी चर्चा:Stabila711 and वापरपी चर्चा:Stabila711/Archive 1

It appears that "Flow" talk pages can be moved like regular talk pages (the interface gives that option, anyway), so I guess this should be done in the cases where the "new" username doesn't already have a talk page here. In cases where the "new" user talk page does already exist, I'm guessing the "old" talk pages should just be redirected to the "new" ones. Not sure what should be done with #7 and #8. Just delete them?

How is this handled on other Wikipedias? Specially the English Wikipedia?

I think that it makes sense that in all cases of renaming, the user pages and user talk pages with the old names should be moved to the corresponding pages with the new names if the latter do not exist, and redirect to the corresponding pages with the new names of the latter already exist.

Does this move / redirection take place automatically in other wikis and not in the Konkani Wikipedia?

For #7 and #8, User:Velipravindra exists, so all related must move / redirect to this username depending on whether the destination pages exist.

Dcljr (चर्चायोगदान)

But User:Velipravindra is a different spelling than User:Velipranvindra and User:Velipravindr. Are we sure these are all the same user? (I have asked at वापरपी चर्चा:Velipravindra; we'll see if that user gets the message.)

As for whether the changes are "automatic", it looks like regular users move pages after a user is renamed. No fewer than 7 users made the page moves at the Incubator for these 12 username changes (not counting #7 and #8). Apparently none of them are admins, test-wiki admins, bureaucrats, or even importers. Interesting… ISTM, these users must be using some automatically generated list of wikis where page moves have to be done — otherwise how could so many of them overlook gomwiki? I have asked one of them about this.

You know… the more I look into this, the more I suspect that this problem was caused by the Flow talk page manager bot not knowing how to properly handle redirects.

Sorry, I should have explained this better. User:Velipravindra started editing on 21 Jan 2016. On the same day, John Noronha posts this welcome message. And from here, begins the saga of Velipravidr. Apparently it all started with a small typo by John Noronha.

Dcljr (चर्चायोगदान)

Aha! That explains those cases (#7 and #8 — so those two user_talk pages can just be deleted). And, yes, all 12 other user_talk pages should either be redirected (if the target user_talk page already exists with nontrivial edit history) or moved (if not). Unfortunately, looks like it's not currently possible to redirect a Flow page, although there's a chance it may become possible in the future (note that both pages just linked to describe a "hack" to accomplish the same thing). As mentioned above, the user interface seems to provide the option to move a Flow page, but according to mw:Help:Flow/Administration#Concerning boards, that's not currently possible either! (But it says users can "rename a Flow board". Not sure the difference between that and moving a Flow page.)

The Discoverer (चर्चायोगदान)

I deleted all the user_talk pages with no registered user. I was going to create redirects by moving subpages, but then I realised that in every case:

- both the source and destination pages had no content, or trivial content (automatically added templates)

- the users in question had zero edits in the Konkani Wikipedia

So I now doubt whether it makes sense to create redirects from trivial pages to trivial pages for users who haven't contributed to this Wikipedia, and whether it's even likely that someone would look for the user talk page with the old name.
